Have you ever heard the term “Don’t Blow Your Gasket?” Well, you certainly don’t want to blow a gasket under the hood of your vehicle. That can lead to getting stuck on the road. Here’s what you need to know about your vehicle’s gaskets.
A gasket is a protective layer that prevents various liquids, inside your vehicle, from mixing with each other. There are literally hundreds of gaskets inside your vehicle. Each one of these gaskets is made up of two to five layers of strong metals including copper and steel. These gaskets are designed to withstand years of excessive heat and wear. However, these gaskets will not last indefinitely. After a while, these gaskets will begin to wear down. Towards the end of their life, gaskets will develop small holes where the liquid can escape. When that happens, the liquid will begin to bubble out and that can lead to engine breakdown.

Don’t take chances with your vehicle’s many gaskets. Have all of your vehicle’s gaskets inspected at Barnes Crossing Chevrolet Buick GMC in New Albany, MS today.
